This was a small exhibit but a captivating experience. It’s always wonderful to see an artist’s work and think, “How did they come up with this?” Then the immense emotion of, that’s me too!

I read these words in the introduction to the four women exhibit. Yay for women! For us! There was a time when women were denied access to art programs and had their art exhibited. Anyway, on to the words that stole my heart!

Then I really lit up with these next words.

Making, exploring and creating alongside the natural world can nurture emotional and spiriual well-being when we understand the land not as a resource, but as a family…

Yes!! This is all me! I wander in gardens, make stuff, and my creativity is always meant to nourish my spirit and remind me I am something bigger! I have this ritual where I look at the city from above, look up at the moon, and watch the palm trees breeze. I say this is me! This is my calm. There is abundance out there. There’s some for me because there is some for all of us!

Here is My Favorite Work

Art from the Armory Center for the Arts

I see a central figure. Her shape and dress reveal she may be the queen, the leader, the supposedly superior one. The workers what seems to be a field, doing what they are told. I love the one on the upper right, appearing to be sitting and pondering life. Perhaps wondering why she is the leader, I want that too! Why can’t we all have that? All figures have the same face, but are they the same? Yes, we are the same, but societal norms forget that.

At the end, guests are invited to draw what nature means to them. Of course, of course I had to!

Tile art that guests can make.
