Color mixing with Liquitex acrylic paint

Art Supplies

I love my big box full of supplies! This guide is a list of paint, paper, and other fun tools I use to paint flowers.

I put together this list of my favorites because I always like to see what other artists use.

In my box I have:

  • Caran d’Ache Neocolor II Aquarelle  Crayons
  • Liqutex Heavy Body Acrylic Paint
  • Liquitex Basics Watercolor Paint
  • Golden Fluid Acrylic Paint
  • Canson XL watercolor paper
  • Winsor Newton Acrylics, Watercolor & Gouache

all narrative.

I often shop at Blick for my art supplies. Here is a list of what I have. You can shop from Blick’s homepage here. I will get a small commission at no extra cost to you.

There are other brands that I find more ecocomical and work great too. Those brands include Master’s Touch, Royal Langnickel, and Crayola Educational watercolor sets. Blick has their own house brand paints, and they work great. Oh, Crayola makes a great tempera and acrylic paint. This works for collage and creative exploration. You can always find art supplies at Dollar Stores, like stencils, mason jars, brushes, and sketchbooks, too!

Here are a few other art supplies worth sharing.

Books

learning by heart teachings to free the creative spirit book

This is my favorite art book. Another favorite is Show Your Work by Austin Kleon.

  • Radical Typography Skillshare course with James Victore.
  • Shantell Martin’s course is another game-changer
  • Suzanne Allard She has a free color mixing course!
  • Surface Pattern Design with Cat Coq, or since I use Affinity, JennyVeguilla-Lezan

As a reminder, this is my list. I am sharing what I have learned. The most important part of being an artist is to make art. Try different tools. Make your magic.
