Freedom is the topic of the season. I am working on thinking about what it is that I truly want. What have I always wanted? What does freedom truly mean?

The biggest freedom we have is thought! We can think whatever we want. Those thoughts influence our decisions. The biggest freedom we have is thought. That is what I have been learning.

Here’s What My Art Has Taught Me About Freedom

You have it, but you let it go

Kids are the best artists; you give them an idea and provide the supplies. Then they go and create like they never listened to what you said. That is the truth. Sometimes I question and even ask. They simply say, I don’t know, I just did it! Art is freedom. You just do it.

We grown-ups don’t often do that. We doubt. The best remedy for doubt is to just do it! For me, that is to make art!

You have the ideas, but prosperity is elusive

We have ideas. We get those ideas that give us that I’m trying phase, but we don’t fully commit. Belief is in your words, how you walk, how you talk, and absolutely what you think. Belief is in everything you do!

The best remedy for this is to sit and do nothing. Sit with your own thoughts. What do you want? How are you living up to that? And of course, make art!

Yes, there is AI, trends, and you can get caught up in a world that isn’t you

When I get out my supplies, and I’m in my creative space. At first, there may be doubt, but then something happens. I get ideas and can go for hours. Your best ideas are ones that come from you. You can only get to that when you are making art. You may not have the answers at first or know what you are doing, but it will come. We always have that magic.

When I think of my art, what I learn and enjoy from it the most is that it’s my canvas. I am holding the brush. I can say and do what I want on the canvas. Sometimes a blank canvas can be scary. In a way, having this control here helps me let go of all the noise that I can’t control. I learn that I always have my peace.

Freedom of thought and freedom of choice are two very powerful concepts of freedom.
