I am thinking about the word imperfection. I am not sure how I feel about the word imperfection. I don’t like the word mistake either.
Do you struggle with wanting to create perfect art? Do you look at your favorite artists’ work and then yours and try to measure up? Maybe you make a mistake. Then you decide that it’s the ugliest art you have ever made. It gets worse. You question your art abilities. Yes, we do that! I used to do this. I’d ask questions like How do I find my voice? My style?

I realize now that these aren’t things you find. My voice and my style are within me. Through art, I have learned about myself and found the strength to be strong, along with a sense of mindfulness that keeps me going! Here’s why!
You Can’t Control the Creative Process
Sure, have a plan, but the best art happens when you let it. Start with watercolor or a tool of your choice. Then start sketching. Let the brush or the pen put all those ideas in your head into practice. We can’t judge or control the outcome. The point of art is to play. An art journal is all about creative exploration. You see what your tools can do. You make marks.
Surrender to the Marks You Start Making on the Page and Trust
When we try to control the creative process, that may be where creative block happens. Or worse, we wait too long to share our art with the world. How about focusing on what we can control? I always have good ideas. I love mixing colors and creating textures with different tools. That is and has always been there. There is no, how do I find it, it already exists.
Focus On What You Can Control
You can’t control what others say, but you can control your thoughts and actions. Look for the positive, and you will attract it. Look for the negative, and you will attract that too. Oh my goodness, this is a life-changing habit. Be yourself. Don’t let anyone take that from you. You always have a choice. Choose wisely
This summer, I am going deep into my heart and asking what it is that I want. I am learning and growing. Is this phase in my life scary? Oh yes, but at the same time, I am thrilled about where I am going. Readers seem to enjoy reading about my adventures.
This is My Art Process, Which Works For Life Too!
I simply have to start. As I hold that brush in my hand, I must keep going. I may feel weird not knowing what to do. Or have a great idea and question it and want more. That’s where trust comes through. There will come a point when it will be beautiful. My curiosity is ignited. It’s how my spirit is in the beautiful moment. That is where magic happens.

My journal has been helping me reflect on what needs to change within me to then create the art that is me. The beauty of making is that I shall have my answers. I am in abundance, and it’s going to be great!
Thank you for reading. If you have a thought on this topic or can relate to my words, please share it. I know that some of my popular posts have been on nurturing the artist within. I want to write more about that. Wait till you see my Learning is Wild poster!
