Have you been to a garden lately? With the summer fast approaching, it’s a good time to wander to a new place. Gardens are my kind of place. You stay at a resort. You see flowers and plants left and right. It could be along the path leading to the hotel lobby. Already, your vacation is wonderful!
I haven’t been to a garden in a while. I did go to a rose garden a few months ago. I wandered with no agenda. I saw butterflies and felt the warmth of the sun. Wait, I had to close my eyes and imagine the sun, as it was a cloudy day. Usually, I go when the sun is out and there’s a breeze. I feel the warmth of the sun. In that moment, I am reminded that I am part of something bigger.
In this post, I want to share some beautiful gardens that you may want to visit if you are near the Los Angeles Area.
City of Hope Gardens
I love the Japanese Garden and the rose garden. This is free to walk around. Standing there in the middle of it all is amazing. The colors are just so gorgeous.

Arboretum
There are plants, peacocks, and open space to have a picnic or sit and sketch all the beauty before you. Sounds like a dream!
Descanso Gardens
I just checked out this place and urban oasis, you have my heart. I have to check this place out.
Exposition Park Rose Garden

I have gone on field trips here, and what a wonderful place it is. The roses are amazing. I want to say there are fruit and snack stands. This place takes me back to my childhood. The best part is that this place is free. It is right across from museums that are free as well.
Heritage Square
If the Victorian Era is your cup of tea, then you will love this place. This place has small gardens here and there. There are lots of trees, and let’s not forget the beautiful homes. The last time I went here, I had the nerve to bring my sketchbook. I wandered around and loosely sketched all the flowers I saw. I didn’t care what people thought. It was wonderful!
These are just a few of the gardens that I have visited. I have been to a lot of college campuses. It is nice to wander around. The campuses have trees, plants, and gardens. The orange roses at UCLA are wonderful.
If you are not near Los Angeles, no worries. Chances are, you live near a garden or perhaps have one. What garden do you go to? Or what kind of garden do you have?
Another fun part of going to a garden is coming home and painting how I feel.
