Hello! Are you thinking of a project idea? You want to make it happen but not sure how? In this post I will get you motivated to once and for all begin! Of course I will share a simple painting tutorial for even more motivation.

Go for it!

My biggest project right now is redesigning this website. I use WordPress. WordPress offers great support! I’ll do a mini course on that someday. Anyway, WordPress uses a site editor which allows you to gather all the puzzle pieces to build your website. Do I know how to build a website? No at all! Yet here I am. With the new site editor, it is easy to choose a template and customize your website to tell your story. I was not familiar with the new editing process, but I clicked the button knowing full well that I was lost.

Blue paint water

With the help of WordPress and a few videos, my new website is up and running. All it took was a few hours, I am still learning and there’s a lot to do. For a long time, I wanted to upgrade to a simpler easier navigation to showcase my art and products. A few days ago, I said let’s go for it! It was scary not going to lie. What a breath of fresh air once it wasn’t a disaster. I also saw James Victore’s poster with the following words. Done is better than perfect. All it took was a few hours. We hold ourselves back because we think we can’t. Why! We need to just go for it. The best learning is in doing. Do a little research but don’t dwell on it. I am your fan. I believe in you!

Project time!

Wildflower doodle

Grab a sheet of your painting paper and sketch some flowers. I sketch with Neocolors but feel free to use a pencil if that’s all you have. Get creative and go for it! Don’t think, just start drawing flowers. If you need to, you can reference Pinterest for flower ideas. Then put your electronic device aside and draw. Draw flowers the way you draw them, with you.

Now for the best part! Color. Hold that brush loose and let it glide with color on the page. I use watercolor for these doodles. Watercolor is an easy no fuss option. You just need water and a little spray bottle to activate the paint and you’re good to go. I will be adding a layer of acrylic paint for the details. It’s fun to play to see the brilliance that develops when you explore different tools.

Final thoughts

There is no right time. You just have to start. In my creative space here in A Painted Garden, there is only make and there’s no right way to paint a flower. Get out there and show your work. Oh, Show Your Work is a great read! Oh, that’s right I have to write that post and work on my hand lettering. So much to do so little time!

With Love, Mireya
