a watercolor painting of roses

If you are looking for a new project or flower painting ideas to fill up your journal then you’ll enjoy these tips.

Paint paper. Write a few words of wisdom. Add a stem and leaves. I have a book project filled with examples.

You take an ornament and dip it in paint. Use the ornament to paint circles on the page. Let the shapes semi-dry. Take a damp brush to go over the shapes and spread the paint. Add stems and leaves and you have beautiful flowers. Here’s a pin video on the process. You can also click on the photo if you are interested in purchasing the print.

Mix up your favorite color or how about a color you hardly paint with. Think of a circle shape and start applying paint in a circular motion. Layer lighter and darker versions of this color.

Think of a phrase, quote, or song lyric that speaks to you. The idea is to have a message that will decorate your space and motivate you.

Here’s a Pinterest video on how I paint flowers with a paper roll. I love the sporadic texture.

I hope you enjoy these ideas. I am journaling and needed a list of ideas to fill up my journal too. I love exploring the ways I can use finger painting in my flower paintings. If you have an idea you’d like to share or try any of these ideas, please let me know. I’d love to see your work! I am working on a post about my favorite posts, and another post on how we can shop for art supplies during the back-to-school sales.
