Blue flower pattern case with various pink flowers

I’m sharing this painting today because it’s bright, beautiful, and what I want more of. If you follow me on Instagram, you will see the other edition. I was about ready to let this go but had set it aside. Came back to it a few days later, and here we are. This painting is the essence of what my painting needs to be all the time.

I started with a watercolor background. The yellow was too bright. I had an acrylic yellow and used Titan Buff to warm up the yellow background. I want to work with a limited color palette. My color palette includes primary yellow, pink, and green. Actually, I included a medium yellow that I mixed up. I used Neocolours to sketch my design. The last step was the best part. I painted! The sizes of the leaves and flowers didn’t seem right. I loved the color too much to let it be. The vase is beautiful. That blue with yellow is an amazing color. That’s when I decided it was acrylic paint. I can layer over it!

The best part of painting is everything. I’m going to be doing a Georgia O’Keeffe project with a 2nd grade class next week. Her words remind me of what I felt as I painted these flowers in a vase.

Since I cannot sing, I paint.

Siempre,

Mireya
