Nine beautiful magenta flowers surrounded by vines of green and blue

My cold has moved onto a cough. When I think I’m getting better, it gets bad again. This week I did my best to paint daily. But it’s been a great art week. I painted a Drugs are Despicable Minion poster with 2nd graders. I painted pumpkins with third and fourth graders. The best part was the students didn’t care about my premium paint. All they wanted to do was express their ideas. What a week!

Freedom of Expression

For my magenta flower pattern, I wanted lovely shades of pink and orange. Pink is my flirt-with-the-idea vibe lately. My confidence is where it needs to be. I’m reading Show Your Work. I am done scanning all of the Wild About You paper flowers. I need to research a few poems. Perhaps I’ll write a poem and another book is done! Not too bad for being sick for the last three weeks.

Back to my magenta flowers. I had an idea. Sure I referenced a painting on my Pinterest board. I observed the details I liked and made the painting my own. The best part is I explored. The freedom that comes from exploring is where my best work, our best work is. We have that brilliant voice but we need to voice it.

When I can, I bring my art to the classroom. We all want freedom of expression, to win, to make a mess, to mix our own color palette, and to be heard for who we are. My art is all about freedom of expression.

Would you like to see my classroom art? I forgot to share that.

Take Care Of You

Take care of yourself so you don’t get sick. We run around with all these to-do’s. Do we need to be doing all of that? Can we get help? If you are sick it doesn’t mean you have to stop doing what you love. It means mask up, rest when you can, eat soup, drink tea, and REST. Oh, by the way, yes I took extra care being around the kiddos. I’m sure I got sick from one of them. It seems I’m the only one sick now.

Siempre,

Mireya
