Watercolor flower bouquet of pink peach and red flowers
Creating a personal palette with a Meeden 52 Pan Palette for painting abstract flowers

I have been loving my watercolor set these days. It has been hot, and I have been working hard on my Etsy shop. Using my watercolor set to paint beautiful abstract florals helps me create ease and the peace I seek.

I am about to use my row of blues to paint this bouquet. Oh, and greens too!

I love a good tote bag. I had one for the longest time, and the handle ripped. I have added my art to tote bags, but I wanted this design featured as a gift for moms on Mother’s Day.

For the first time, I am thinking about how my work would fit into people’s lives. I paint because I love gardens. I love nature. Painting radiates peace; this energy makes you feel that everything is possible. When each of us does something that makes us feel this way, it can help others do the same. Like a domino effect? Yes! I like that idea.

These days, my recipe for painting is as follows.

  • Choose three colors to build a palette for the entire painting
  • Reference a photo or something I saw at Anthropologie, only for the purpose of painting what I felt when I saw it.
  • Hold the brush loosely in hand and just paint

Hold the brush loosely in my hand and have fun! Yes. I had the chance to listen to a choir practice the song Footloose. The instructor gave the following advice.

Don’t be shy. Have fun! The meaning of this song is about dancing at a time when it wasn’t allowed. What a wonderful example to be ourselves. Rock on. Do your thing. That’s what I’ll do.
