If you are looking to create beautiful paintings or just want to have fun. Then, quick sketching is for you! This is also a great way relax.

Pinterest is my place where I collect beautiful photos. I’ll stroll into Anthropologie or roam the neighborhood, too. Loosely referencing a photo got me testing my colors, making marks, and enjoying the process.

The Keyword here is loose. Choose a photo that really speaks to your spirit. It’s the colors and warmth that speak to me. So I pick up the brush and make marks. Don’t focus on what you are painting, instead focus on how it makes you feel.

Move quick with your brush strokes. You think you made a mistake. Keep going and see what you can come up with. My journal is approximately 5 x 5 inches in size. It was $1.50. This gives me confidence to play. It’s quick. There is no room for thinking. That is how your best art happens.

In my little sketch, I was able to create a beautiful composition and mix a harmonious palette. There are a couple of areas that weren’t supposed to be that way, like the green succulent or the blue center in the pink flowers. You know what, these details make the painting interesting! There are no mistakes. Not even happy ones! We are just making marks and beautiful art. It’s the process that matters. Be in the moment.

From that sketch, I have this beautiful bouquet of flowers. My flowers aren’t realistic, but the colors and the strokes create warmth and positive energy. That is what I want for my blooms.

I will be adding more details. I have lots more work. I have been adding two new designs to my Etsy shop every week. I am releasing some of my book projects. I am creative. I am an artist. I paint beautiful flowers. I hope that my art inspires that spirit of boundless curiosity in you!
