Color mixing with Liquitex acrylic paint

I had a short amount of time to work, but I wanted to create something beautiful. The blooms are going to be beautiful. I just don’t know how it’s going to look. Maybe a vase. Oh, right, I can get out my doodles and paint the flowerpot. Then it was on to my supplies. I’ve been working with watercolor. Watercolor is easy to work with when you have a short time. Watercolor is easy to clean up. But my spirit was calling for acrylic paint!

Ok, acrylic paint it is! I opened up my fabulous box and pulled out my acrylic paint.

I want yellow and peach. I’m ready for spring! Oh, but if I am working with acrylic paint, I will be making a mess. I want to get out my ceramic plate, add water, and make those soft strokes. What do I do next?

The caps to my paint became my little palettes. I used them to mix and blend. I’d dip my brush in white, then yellow, and a tiny touch of pink. Now that I had my paint ready, a flowerpot didn’t seem that exciting. Something in me said, “Let’s go to a wildflower field. You wanted watered-down acrylic paint. You’re painting with heavy body acrylic paint straight out of the tube. It’s going to be beautiful. And I painted these gorgeous florals.

Suddenly, I feel like I am painting the breeze and grass! I like where this painting is going. Before I continue, I would like to reference my color palette. Maybe aqua blue leaves? Oh my goodness, I think so!

The quick tip for painting acrylic loose flowers is to paint them. Make the most with what you got. Anything goes. Soft strokes and a willingness to see the beauty before it’s there. Yes, I am working on mindfulness too!

Thank you for being here.
