Erasers, ink, brush handles, pens, pencils…. I like the idea of taking an ordinary object and making something extraordinary. Stamping with tissue paper is fun too.

I wrote the above words and did this exploration a while ago. There is a whole world of ideas that can be used to make beautiful art. In a classroom, I got a chance to watch artists take simple materials and explore ideas to see what happens.

I gathered the following:

• white paper
• orange, black and red paint
• sequence confetti
• paper leaves
• feathers
• a printable page with 4 leaves
• flat paint brushes
• googly eyes
• orange and red paper.
• pipe cleaners and all kinds of colors

Guess what we made? We made turkeys. The artists were artists indeed. Oh, how they used simple supplies to make beautiful turkeys. They turned the pipe cleaners into bracelets or feathers. I came home filled with peace! There is something about trying new supplies that is exciting. We made a mess, and it was wonderful!
