a journal page with swatches made with yellow and magenta

I posted my flower in my happenings in my creative post. I saw the book last week and woke up thinking about the ideas and the power of this read. The story is about a girl who loves her name until she gets made fun of at school. With the help of her music teacher, who is also named a flower, Chrysanthemum learns to always love her name.

It is important to love your name and love yourself for who you are!

Here are the watercolor Chrysanthemums I painted.

Finger painting watercolor chrysanthemum florals

I have yet to write the words, but I will write them in between the blooms.

I finger-painted all of the flowers and used a brush to paint the leaves and stems.

I want to paint another finger-painted version with acrylic paint. And turn my idea into a poster? Yes! Oh my, why didn’t I think of this last night when I had some leftover pink paint? I shall do it today! Perhaps Collage?

How about a little poem!

Love your name.

Love you.

Never seek permission.

Why an artist likes me, loves Chrysanthemum, is because I love my name. My name is Mireya. Not many people have that name, but the name is unique. I just remembered that my name means flower in Spanish. I love painting flowers.

There are times when I went from loving my name and loving me to wondering if my art was good enough. Why not. I simply want to make art and hope to brighten someone’s day. There is only make.

Thank you for being here.
