One more year around the sun. I must put a post out today. Here we are!

I have been gradually getting back into painting.

Love Your Name Finger Painted Chrysanthemum

Finger painting watercolor chrysanthemum florals

Yes, I fingerpainted in watercolor, all of the flowers except the leaves and stems. I added a new signature. Maybe. Chrysanthemum is also a good read. I don’t care that I smudged one of the leaves. It makes the leaf interesting.

Orange and Yellow Flowers in a Peach Vase

Orange and yellow florals in peach vase painting

This was the first painting I did after I felt better. Even when I was sick, I thought about art but didn’t paint. I was excited to get back into painting. The only idea I had was a vase with flowers. I got my watercolors out and went with my only rule, there is only make. Maybe I’ll work on the centers of the flowers. Sure! Acrylic paint you are calling my name.

Beautiful Flowers for Patterns, My Book and Stickers

Watercolor florals for surface pattern design

Simple flowers with beautiful watercolor? Yes! I forgot how easy and comforting watercolor can be. I painted these simple flowers for the cover of my coloring book. Then I thought of stickers and patterns. The purple flower needs my blue posca pen.

Not being able to do my usual activates gave me a chance to think, read and listen to ideas, my ideas. There is only make. I am going to keep it simple. I have simplified my website, simplified my writing, and the way I create. I want to make the art that I want to see. I want to write the post that I want to read. I borrowed that idea from Austin Kleon. I love it!

Lastly, I want to share that I finally created links with Blick. You can browse my favorite supplies. I am not suggesting that you buy all of these items, but it is a list, if you are looking for something to add to your toolbox you might want to browse for something new.

It has been hot, and watercolor has served me well! Of course, the idea, there is only make, has helped me too! I am excited for the release of my first coloring book. All of my flower drawings are done and scanned! I just have to work on them in Affinity. Now that is work. Maybe I should release the e-book coloring book for free before the coloring book?

If you have something that you are excited about, please use this post to share.
