Do you ever just get out your tools and paint? Perhaps you have an idea, but really, you just want to paint! With every stroke of color, you are like, ‘Yes, this is what I wanted.’ There is no what am I doing? Maybe you do ask that question, but you don’t care. You just want to paint. Oh my, makes me think of my students!
Lately, sketching with watercolor has been a dream!

This flower poster was really about making art. I had the words but no idea. There were orange roses, and blue leaves seemed like the way to go. The spiral vines just happened.
Here is what I was thinking when I painted this.
- make marks
- See what happens
- draw letters, especially because you think you can’t
- Watercolor is an easy medium to sketch with
- Simple is better
- Watercolor florals are popular
The colors and simple floral vines symbolize what making art is all about. Working on something, painting something, I just wanted to paint since I haven’t for a while. I played. I had fun. There is only make, by the way, is a rule from Corita Kent. Learning by Heart: Teachings to Free the Creative Spirit is an excellent read.
I have 54 flower doodles for the coloring book. The coloring book is ready!
Thanks for being here.
