ten pink roses in a blue vase

Back to School season is a fabulous to pick up inexpensive art supplies that you can explore. Stores like Target and Dollar Tree stock their isles with great items that you can add to your toolbox.

These items are not the best quality and yet they are because you can do a lot of exploring with them. There is a world full of possibilities with art! These are some of the supplies that I use. Maybe you can pick up supplies on your next shopping trip!

Here is a video showing a few items.

Crayola Paint

Walmart and Target offers great deals on Crayola Products.

You can get a set of 6 tempera paint colors for $6.00. If you are a beginner with tempera paint, this set is a great buy!

I got this set for under $20.

Primary Colors of Crayola Tempera Paint

You can get a set of watercolors with a brush for $2-$4.

Here I painted with a Crayola educational set. I can blend, mix colors and practice painting.

Storage and Organization

You can find items like calendars, and small containers for your travel painting supplies at the Dollar Tree. You can find mason jars to hold your brushes or paint water. They also have a floral vase foldable cup. I love picking up parchment paper. It comes in a pack of 60 and works great as palette paper.

Notebooks

Stores like Target offer notebooks and folders for under $1. I love a good .35 cents composition book. You can draw, take notes and write your to- do lists.

Oil pastel sketch of flowers and vase

Composition books are great for doodling ideas for your next project. I did buy a pack of two mechanical pencils with lead and an eraser for $3.98. An artist needs to sign her paintings, right?

Blick also has good sales!

I wonder what other artists buy during the back-to-school sales?

Get all things abstract flowers in your mailbox.
