Finger painting is so much fun! In today’s painting session I said once and for all, I am going to go as far as I can painting with my fingers. It was a challenge! That’s why finger painting is a creative boost.
Looking for a creative boost? Or if you need to build the confidence of, yes you are an artist and you can paint, then you should try fingerpainting.
Here are two ideas!
Finger Painting Textures

For this acrylic painting, I used a spray bottle to moisten the paper before I started painting. I painted with my middle finger in a right to left motion. Adding water to the paper before you paint, helps! You know I had to add a flower.
I also painted a texture for my mini floral all occasion card collection.
Finger Painting Flowers

For these blue flowers, I used my pinky and middle finger to paint circular swatches forming the shapes of flowers. Every detail of this painting is done with finger painting. It doesn’t feel quite done. I am going to keep working on it. Not bad for my first try in painting the entire painting with my fingers.
I have pinned finger painted flower ideas on my board. I want to challenge myself to do as much of the painting in finger painting as possible. There are many possibilities. I imagine my project as a combination of finger-painted flower paintings with the inspirational thoughts of Morgan Harper Nichols. But instead of Morgan’s thoughts, it will be my thoughts on painting and nature’s wisdom.
Here is a little Morgan Harper Nichols video on how to play when you paint. Right now, I just want to play and see what I can come up with.
Go watch the video. Get into your creative place you trust and paint. If you have an idea or are painting along with me. I would love to see it.
