first layer of a dramatic bouquet

I am working on a book project. In today’s post I want to share my summer flower and share my latest art assignment of teaching TK and Kinder students art. Oh, my goodness what a lesson I am learning!

First up is my flower!

Summer Zinnia

Yes, you see two crumbled up sheets of watercolor paper. I had a photo and was referencing it. My three colors of choice were magenta, white and yellow. I did add a little ultramarine to my magenta in hopes of getting a good pink. There were all these negative thoughts. The worst one was, “Are you an artist? Why can’t you paint this Zinnia from an angle?

Then I decided I am an artist. Forget about the picture. Forget about angles. Do what you do. And so, I painted! Suddenly I was all, I am posting this on social media, and I don’t care what you think.

My little guys are painting, making a mess and loving it! I think of the ideas, gather the materials and show them what it should look like. They take it wherever they want! It’s interesting and fun! They love the feel of paint in their hands and always want more paper and paint! I’m working on a video showcasing all of our work.

Stop worrying about the outcome and enjoy the process.

Once I was in my flow, a project on my to-do list popped in my head. My creative spirit was where it is supposed to be. What a wonderful time to paint Suzanne’s Dramatic Bouquet Painting (even when you think you can’t). Talk about timing!

There you have it my wildflowers. Nourish your mind. Take deep breaths. Take a break. Alter course and make the choice to keep painting!

By the end of the summer, I want to sell my art! I currently do via print on demand but I long for expanding my website to include my shop. I have a printing company that I want to work with.

Here’s to your dream. Here’s to my dream. Let’s stay alive, stay weird.

Thanks for reading. Comment if you like. It is always fun to chat about art and learn new ideas. I’d love to see your work!

Interested in more painting ideas and talk? Subscribe to my blog and be part of a garden where wildflowers grow. I do like the sound of that!

With Love, Mireya
