In this post, I want to share my latest flower painting and talk about how art doesn’t have to be good for it to be good for you. We get so focused on thinking our art is bad that we don’t paint.
Prescence, permission and play are good for the mind, the soul, the body and for making great art.
Always take time for your mind, to give yourself peace and certainly wander in a garden. My peace, my self-care comes from my art.
You may be asking questions like, how do I find my voice, is my art good enough, what’s my style…pick up the paint brush and paint. Learn as you go! The answers are always found in the making. I’ll explain when I share my latest painting.
You might feel uncomfortable looking at a blank page. Or if you’re like me, you have tons of ideas. You overthink instead of just painting. Then it goes wrong because you paint thinking it has to be a certain way.
EttaVee wrote the following words in her newsletter. I have been enjoying her newsletter lately.
Art is about presence, permission and play.
I read these words, and I was like YES. Our best ideas and work come from developing a flow that comes with consistency.
When your painting, don’t think of your art being good or bad. Pay attention to how relaxed you feel and being present in the flow. That is where the good is at.
Today is a good day to wander in a garden
Everything from the words to the colors and certainly wandering in gardens is how I feel when I paint. I focused on that peace and now I have this idea and am ready to get going on the book!

My first thought was oh this could be my first entry for my fingerpainting flower book. Then I started blending colors with a small flat brush. With each stroke of warm yellow, pink and orange, I felt the warmth of summer. My grip on the brush was loose and I was curious to watch how the colors blended together. I added a little gold because why not. I think my project has begun!
Lately I have been showing up ready to play and ready to learn. If you read my blog, then you know I have been trying to get my colors right. I stopped thinking about getting my colors right. My color palette is beautiful!

In summary, I painted. Painting helped me relax; I got to work on different techniques. That led me to solidify my finger-painting book project and even improved my color palette. Having written this post makes me think about my experience and ready for my week.
This is another painting that I recently did.

I hope you enjoyed this post! By the way, I am navigating learning how to design my website and expand to the shop I’ve always wanted. A purchase can help me. I have stickers and buttons.
Oh, I’ve decided that I will post daily on Instagram and aim for two times a week on Pinterest. Be sure to follow me there. I’ll be blogging a minimum of two days a week.
