It is the last day of school. You clear out your desk, have a pizza party, sign a few year books, have year-end festivities but mostly when that bell rings, freedom awaits.

Having summers off is your chance to play all day and do the things you love! I love what I do every day, but I love summers off. Someone posted a video with the words, if you are counting down the days until summer then you are not living like you should. That has me pondering life, as I often do.

Why do I love summer so much?

  • I can be home
  • I have more time to create
  • I can spend hours painting
  • The days are long
  • Cooler nights for walking under the moon and the stars
  • eating watermelon and other fruits
  • shorter workdays
  • Time to paint and make art. Yes, I said that already!
  • Being outdoors

The only part about summer that I don’t like is the weather. It can get into the 90-100s.

This quote by Ralph Waldo Emerson sums up what I love about summer.

I loved going to school and learning. Part of me was like, maybe I could have summer every day. I just have to go do this school thing, then homework and after that I’m free!

All of this leads me to wonder how I can have summer in my every day. The truth is we can! We can always make time to drink in the wild air.

If we take time to drink in the wild air, we are not counting down days or more importantly burned out. There are times when we sacrifice our well-being for what we believe is the greater good.

Many times, I would come home after a hard day and paint. Painting and going for walks are my peace. Summer should definitely be part of every single day. Take time to read, paint, drink tea, go for a walk.

I leave you with the quote from Oprah

Summer has a flavor like no other. Always fresh and simmered in sunshine.

Subscribe to my blog and be part of a garden where wildflowers grow. I do like the sound of that!
