I have been working with purple. Purple isn’t a color that I usually work with. I don’t wear purple. Not sure how I feel about grape jam. I prefer strawberry preserves.

For some reason, I have been gravitating toward magenta, maroon, Barbie purple and Summer Mauve. Summer Mauve sounds wonderful! As I roamed Anthropologie, I found a pot with purple flowers. Then I was searching Pinterest and found mixing guides. Here is the purple mixing guide that I have been referencing.

Here is my painting with purple paint.

Purple wildflowers pattern with blue leaves

I feel like there should be aqua blue. Oh, I could paint the background aqua blue! Yes! I am not liking the two rounds rose shape flowers. The centers of the flowers seem dark. That is what layering and acrylic paint are for.

My purple wildflowers are a work in progress. Painting is a process. I want to create unity within my artwork using texture and colors. Plus, purple is about creativity, wisdom and power.

Project Idea!

What is your typical color palette?

Mixing tones of purple

Choose a color that is out of your comfort zone and paint with it. How can you mix with it? Get to know that color. It may turn out to be the color you have been looking for. That’s what happened to me. If you love color, try using a black marker.

As a bonus, you can go to a store you typically don’t shop at and see what captures your senses.

Kate Spade did a collaboration with Target. The green dress with aqua blue had my heart. Oh, my I can totally paint that. I shall!

i love that you stepped out into the world of purple. I like it because of the purple in many sunsets and on my favorite tree the lilac tree. I actually picked up a paint sprayer to work with as my step out of my zone, still haven’t tried it yet but now that it is getting warmer I shall get to do so. I think outside is best when learning a tool like that one lol
