In this post, I want to share how I took colorful swatches of paint to create a collage cocoon. Ever butterfly needs a cocoon to grow and bloom.

I remember the time I worked on this project. There was no plan. I simply took Eric Carle’s advice and painted lots of paper. I painted copy and origami paper. Then I observed my colorful paper and started cutting. For some reason Eric Carle’s Hungry Caterpillar was on my mind. You open up the last two pages to reveal the beautiful butterfly.
I do create butterflies. There’s a bunch of them in my book.

What a lesson for all of us. Your cocoon is your resting, peaceful, mindful creative space. If you nurture this space, you will boom into the beautiful butterfly that you are.
I feel like I have been in my cocoon. I have been journaling, exploring different colors and adding a few new paintings to my shop.
Outside forces like social media and the voice in your head can get to you but you need to take care of your mind and body. For me, making art is part of my cocoon. The more I paint the more I realize that even scraps of paper make beautiful art. There is room for me. There’s room for you!
Do you relate to this idea? I sell this print. If you would like it, you can purchase it here.

There is something about being in your creative space or in your place of comfort. You feel peace. There are no outside forces. It is you. You learn to look inside yourself and realize that your ideas are possible.
Thank you for reading and subscribing! Here’s to all the projects to come!
