I have had Gloden fluid paint bottles in my box for a long time. Here I am looking for an easier way to mix acrylics. Then I read Carrie Schmitt’s Art Supply newsletter. The newsletter contained Fluid Acrylic paint! What a wonderful time to test my paint because I forgot I had them.

Here are the swatches.

The first row is the color straight out of the bottle. The second row is adding a small amount of titanium white. Then I mixed the yellow ochre with magenta to get orange. And that purple is gorgeous!

This is What I Love About Golden Fluid Acrylic Paint

  • Fluid Acrylic is opaque and thinner than traditional acrylic
  • The bottle is easy to squeeze
  • The paint is super pigmented. A little goes along way
  • The price is about $6-10 per bottle and cheaper with a coupon
  • The colors are easy to mix up
  • small tubes=easy storage and travel kit

For all these reasons, wow I love this paint! I have used fluid acrylics before but never appreciated them as I do now. To think at one point, I was going to get rid of them. There is a craft store going out of business. Guess what I will be stocking up on?

The only problem with this paint is it seems to dry a little faster than acrylic paint. Do I want more of this paint in my art box? Yes!

Am I giving up my acrylic paint? Me mixing up fluid paint makes me think, maybe I am not using acrylic paint the right way. I get excited and want to paint. With acrylic heavy body paint, you have to prep it a little before the fun begins. With fluid acrylics I get to the fun sooner. It was beautiful!

How are these fluid acrylics going to help me work with heavy body acrylic better?

Adding a little water to thin acrylic paint is a great idea! I have a spray bottle that I should use more often.

I have been looking for a solution to my acrylic paint problems. Plus, I realize that I need to go and watch a video on painting with acrylic paint.
