Not sure what to call this, but it is inspired by hand lettered envelopes! When you don’t know what to paint, doodling is the answer.

I let myself get so down about not having an idea for my painting challenge. I didn’t know what to paint. The two attempts went in the trash. What did I do? I took out my Posca pens and doodled. What a win!

If you hear a voice within you say, ‘you cannot paint,” then by all means paint, and that voice will be silenced.” Vincent van Gogh

Yes! These words took over and I was back on track doing what I do.

First, I used a wide flat brush to paint the background. I mixed greens, blues and white. While the texture dried, I looked up inspiration on Pinterest.

Then I had this stamp that I have been wanting to use. I don’t have ink. My watercolor pen worked fine!

Next, I took out my Posca markers and doodled. What do I write in the center? I kept doodling know that as I keep working the answer will come. The flowers led to the vines. A pink heart tree with pops of gold popped in my head. Dots of gold!

Then the words you are loved made all the sense in the world. Oh, I love the sessions where you just play and figure out a way to make it work! I am an artist aren’t I. Yes!

From the flowers to the touch of gold, this is beautiful. I will add this project as a poster to my gallery. As you can see this is not the mural or like my previous design. That’s why it works! Flowers and leaves are what I paint. All I had to do is pick up a pen and draw. Many times, I am unsure, then I start drawing and everything makes sense!

I love painting roses

How do you paint or doodle for unique artwork? Pick up the paint brush and paint. If you feel stuck, change it up, loosen up and the ideas will come. Dooling is part of the flow. Your flow of work helps you realize that your art has always been there and that you are loved!

I have two more challenges. I will wrap up with a post on what I have learned these past few days. The biggest idea is there is only make.

As always thank you for reading. If you give doodling a try, I’d love to see your work.

With Love, Mireya
