In this post we are going to take our lovely textures and turn them into beautiful flowers. If you haven’t painted your textures, you can reference the post where I painted textures.
To recap the previous post, you can use a variety of tools such as cake scrapers, brushes and paint tube caps. I just thought of combs, toothbrushes, an old credit card, paper or Q-tips. There are so many ideas.
I have used ornaments to paint flowers. I will be doing that in a few days. Use what you have. You will be surprised by what you can come up with. Random tools are a huge part of creative exploration.
Here are the textures that I painted

When you are painting your textures, just paint. After you finish painting your texture, spend some time observing flowers that you like. There are two ways that you can observe to reveal the art within the texture.
Observe your textures and your favorite flower arrangements
I am referencing my Pinterest Board of pink flowers to see what I can come up with. I did that momentarily but mostly I created from the heart. I am an artist, right? We are artists. It is best to put yourself in a peaceful place and paint. Or just start painting and the peace will come.

Before you start cutting, as you hold the paper in your hands observe the shapes and the colors. See if you notice any flower shapes. Pay attention to what seems interesting and start from there.
Final

Oh my, I love how this turned out! I started with the pink texture that I created by scratching with the back of my paint brush. Self-love and hearts are what popped in my head. Then it was botanical leaves and the paintings I like to do. I may use my Posca pens to add details. Oh, light blue dots around the orange center of the flower. Perhaps!
The beauty of paper collage is that you never know what will happen. You go with it. I have never thought, oh my what if I cut this piece of paper and it doesn’t work out. It just works out. Paper collage is a confidence booster.
With the leftover scraps I will be creating word art for the word make. As always if you try paper collage flowers, I would love to see your work! Do you like this content? Make sure you are a subscriber. At A Painted Garden there is room for everyone!
With Love, Mireya
