It is important to let loose, feel free, and let the brush glide across the page in your paintings. I’m talking simple soft brush strokes. What better way to start celebrating self-love than with these beautiful florals. You want to be in the state of I am, simply being.
Supplies List
- filbert brushes
- acrylic paint in the following colors, turquoise, magenta, yellow, titanium white and teal
- watercolor paper
- maybe a neocolor to sketch the heart shape
This is my list. By all means use what you have. You can use markers or oil pastels.
Now it’s time to paint!
As you paint think about the words I am and say them. There is something magical about these words. As you dip the brush in your palette think I am. Relax. Keep painting and watch the flowers bloom before your eyes.
There is no right or wrong. You simply are. For example, I gave my little artists an EttaVee abstract heart sample. They took it wherever they wanted to go. It was beautiful. This project is I Am so paint you whatever that may be.
Ok, the first step is to mix up your colors

The way I mix my colors is about the same as always. I begin with either white or magenta. I will gradually add in the other color. For example, I love to begin with white and gradually add magenta. Oh, I like to add a tiny amout of yellow or turquoise!
Soft Strokes
Filbert Brushes make it easy to paint flowers. Loosely paint the layers. I like to have one pink color on my brush and then dip it in another pink. When I paint the petals, I get different textures. Wow these are free flowing, and I love these pinks,!

Keep working. There is only make.
What I love about these flowers is you can go for a while. It’s restful. You learn to let go and enjoy the process. You learn that your art is not good or bad. Your work is done when you think it is. That is trust. It’s beautiful when you can listen and trust yourself.
Final Artwork

I will say that these flowers are not what I expected. The heart shape and the color of the leaves are me. My thoughts were a little distracted. I was thinking too much. Oh, I could probably give some of these roses a lighter peach pink color. Add details to the leaves. I will!
Make sure you have a quiet space. Don’t think. Just paint. You want to feel free as you paint your soft brush strokes. How you feel will reveal itself in the painting.
If you want me to add anything to this post like what brand of paint I use, please let me know. I want to provide enough details so you feel like, yes, I can do this! If you paint these flowers I would love to see them.
Up next I will be working on heart shaped tulips.
With Love, Mireya
