Blue and Pink is a color combination is trending. I love both colors. My favorite blues are like aqua and turquoise. My favorite pinks are magenta, coral pinks and brown pinks. Why didn’t I paint with these color combinations? Oh right, the trends are hot pink and deep navy. See that’s why trends don’t work for me because it’s hard to stick with them. I’d rather do my own thing.

Here is my version of blue and pink.

I am botanical garden

For my painting I used Phthalo Blue and Light Pink. I think I am realizing that I don’t like the light pink. Oh, but the pink I mixed with titanium white and a tiny amount of quinacridone magenta is amazing!

My favorite part of this painting is the leaves. I painted the leaves with a flat brush. I used the top part of my paint brush to create the scribbles on the leaves. Loose, flat brush stroke flowers seem to be my signature way of painting flowers. It’s how I feel and what a warmth! I may add a few more flowers. Blue leaves and pink flowers make me feel I am. I think that is the name for this painting. I Am Botanical Garden. Love it! The combination fo the two pinks made this painting work for me.

These are my kind of blues

I have explored mixing various tones of pink

and a journal page of mixing pink. I should have more swatches. I will go through my swatch book tomorrow.

Mixing pink paint with a palette knife

I definitely want to work with blue and pink more. Maybe I’ll work with these colors when I paint outside tomorrow. Color helps me express how nature makes me feel. I want lots of neutrals with a pop of color. Then I feel like I am thinking too much. I admire kids who just pickck up the paint brush and paint. Most of the time they are not thinking principles and elements of design. They simply piant. It’s always interesting and beautiful. Oh my, I shoud have taken photos of the hurricane eye paintings we painted. I will!

I’m curious do you follow trends in your art? Or do you just do your own thing? Art is about confidence and believing in yourself.

With Love, Mireya
