This post is all about our creative spirit and why it is so important to nurture this gift. We will end the post with a pink flower doodle. Ok, on to the fun!

Festive Days Wonderful Ways
We are just days away from Thanksgiving. My students and I discussed the meaning of being thankful and what we appreciate in our lives. Before that, we painted leaves and created a turkey craft. The smiles, laughter, character-infused turkeys, and painted sunsets lit up the room. Then I wondered, as I often do, why can’t I have this warmth, this peace every day. Why can’t we feel this freedom every day of our lives? I came home and was searching for a quote for a post. I came across the quote by Picasso. The quote suggests doing work that brings us the same peace and happiness as our free time.
I observed children who struggle to follow the rules and give their best effort every day. What do rules mean anyway? I get that rules have their purpose but that topic is beyond this post. My point is that if you provide these children with paint, a brush, markers, and plenty of paper, they become calm and creative! It’s not about become either because we creative, calm and beautiful souls.
Nurture What Warms Your Soul

Then I listened to an influencer who said notebooks and pens warm her soul. She used to write poems and songs. They were pretty decent. Those are her words. Yet her notebooks were lost somewhere. I thought why isn’t she writing songs and poems. They are probably good. There could be a great song that we will never listen to.
Listen to Your Creative Spirit
I am an artist and I wander and wonder all the time. This time I am thinking that maybe the key to our best selves is to be from the spirit, that creative spirit that picks up the paintbrush and paints. There is no I can’t, no societal norms. It’s just us and this immense warmth. We should always do what makes us smile. Not for the money or the fame, but we should always have time to nurture the soul. It could be music, painting, walking, helping others, reading, baking, or cooking. If we have that which ignites our soul, as a constant in our lives is that not going to help us be our best in all areas of our lives?
Painting does bring me peace. Sometimes I am worried or angry and then I paint and all is calm. I feel the same way when I am under the moon and stars. I love gardens too! That is how I know art is my state of mind, my equilibrium, and what gives me life. When I do and act from that center, it’s like a wonderful afternoon with my students, MAGICAL!
Here is my pink flower doodle. There’s a little yellow and orange.

Thank you for reading. Now get out there and do you. Do whatever moves your soul.
With Love, Mireya
