What is my mission when I create? What is my mission as an artist? In this post, I want to reflect on why I make art. It is important to always make art for the thrill of it.
Toolbox of Treasures
I have this orange and blue suitcase box filled with acrylic paint, watercolors, Neocolors, stencils, pens, oil pastels, scraper tools, inks, and more. My mission is to use these tools to paint like there’s no right way to paint a flower. I want to creatively explore different possibilities. I keep seeking this artist on Instagram. She paints flowers like me. I watch her draw details with the eyedropper tool in a liquid acrylic paint and it is wonderful!

New Treasures!
Every now and then I add a new tool. Today, one of my students was drawing with a multi-color pencil. It took me back to my childhood days. I remember having those. She said I could have one! Remember the pencils where you could change the colors by removing a piece from the bottom and placing it on top? I paint a lot. It’s nice to go to the art store and pick up a different tool. If you usually paint with a watercolor palette, try a watercolor pencil.

Our mission for our art is to make art for the thrill of it! Make art for the peace and yes, the thrill of it! What is your favorite tool? This coming week I will be on vacation. I will be painting more. I can’t wait!
With Love, Mireya
