What impression do I want to give people? I like the words, “What people think of you is none of your business.” I’m not sure that I do want to give an impression. Yes, I hope that when people look at my art they feel the colors, the peace, and nature. Most of all I want people to look at my work and know that they can paint flowers too.

The beauty of art is that beauty is in the eye of the beholder. We can look at a painting and feel what we feel. Another person may have a completely different perspective. There is room for all of us!

The word impress doesn’t seem authentic. Usually when a person is trying to impress someone they do and act how they think they should. When you impress you are seeking validation. What impression do I want to give? I don’t want to impress. I just want to paint. I paint much better when I ignore the noise.

I really love this quote. I often reflect on Tabitha Brown’s words: “It’s my business! Yes, I believe in kindness, the golden rule, and finding meaning in helping others. I paint flowers and I blog. Right now, I am going for a walk, and then I will paint. I have been working on doodles. This is my business.”

The truth is the more you do your thing, the less you care about what others think. Life is better when you are not impressing others.
