You just pick up the paintbrush and paint! If all you have is a pencil then use that! In this post, I will compare old work to the art I have been painting this past week. Hopefully, your creativity will ignite and you’ll paint great art.
Old work
We have had good times, my journals and I. I love the texture and wide strokes. I like the color of the flowers on the right but the flowers on the left are interestingly beautiful!

New Work
I painted both of these flower patterns this week. I am still working on the blue flowers.

I’m thinking of dark blue for the center of the flowers. I used Neocolors. I don’t have a gold-green watercolor but I had a watercolor crayon. I wet the paintbrush and rub it on the crayon to pick up pigment. I used metallic blue ink to create texture for the flowers. I also mixed in a little orange to my blue.
When I evaluate my work, I categorize it into two groups. The first group is for pieces where I overthink everything, while the second group is for those I painted instinctively. Can you guess which group consistently has the best art?
I worked on a book project called,” There’s No Right Way to Paint a Flower” In the book, I use various tools to show that you don’t need fancy tools to paint beautiful flowers. You can create unique beautiful art by opening your journal and drawing, painting or sketching. All you need is to gather your supplies and begin. There is no complication, just doodle and that’s it! You may not know what to think of your first drawings. Keep going!
I hope this post has encouraged you to paint. I am. Thank you for reading. If you like this content then please subscribe.
