Let me say that the tips in this post are for any artist. I am an abstract flower artist so of course my frame of reference is painting flowers. In this post, I’ll go into the painting lessons I have learned this week. I’ll share what I believe to be the key to painting beautiful art.
Right away I will tell you that the key to painting beautiful flowers is to paint them. The number one rule in my creative space is there is only make. The greatest art book that I have read is Learning by Heart: Teachings to Free Your Creative Spirit. This book is exactly how we should be making art. It’s how children make art. You grow as you make art. My second rule is there is no right way to paint a flower.

Have you ever watched children make art? Almost always I explain the technique but as soon as I give students the tools, they light up. Children always have brilliant ideas because they are curious and creative.
This week I got to paint outside and teach Marc Chagall. Both these lessons were a great reminder to paint my story. As you paint, you’ll learn what paint you like or how to hold the brush for your benefit. My 13 acrylic painting tips have been serving me well!

Chagall said that the freer you are the more abstract your art will be. The freer you are, the more your art will reveal you. Oftentimes, we hold back because our art is weird and we don’t want to be ignored.
I’ve always believed that the most beautiful part of art is that everyone’s story is different. There’s room for everyone. Nature teaches us that different is beautiful. That’s why A Painted Garden is where wildflowers grow. If you haven’t subscribed please do and paint with us.
By the way, I have added new work to my shop. There is a sale going on! As always your words and your support make me want to make more art.
With Love, Mireya
