Blue flower pattern case with various pink flowers

In this post, I will be sharing some of my paintings and how the ideas came about. I am taking a moment to regroup. I want to stand apart from the negative thoughts and uncertainty to embrace my skills. Sometimes it helps to look at what you’ve done to know what you can do and how you can grow!

I hope you enjoy these abstract flower painting ideas.

Paint flowers you see on a walk

Go for a walk. Take a sketchbook. Draw the flowers that catch your eye. Maybe you’ll see a butterfly and it makes you flutter with that idea. Paint flowers. Paint a butterfly. Maybe you already have an idea. You can go for a walk. Focus on the beautiful nature before you. Then come home and paint your beautiful abstract flowers.

Paint with a fun tool

When I say a fun tool, I mean paint with a big brush instead of a small one. Use your fingers. Try a different technique. How about painting a turquoise background, and then using a paperclip to draw flowers. Ooh, I’ll have to remember that one.

Paint a magical place

I have thought of these whimsical forest-type gardens. It’s the kind of place where you take in all the colorful flowers. You breathe in the sights and smells. Everything is possible. I am also inspired by a muralist who paints colorful artwork in forgotten towns. I love that!

Doodle flowers

Use red tempera paint to sketch flowers.

When in doubt, doodle flowers. You can use copy paper, a school notebook, or a cute notebook from Dollar Tree. Draw and see what you can come up with. As you draw you’ll generate ideas that you’ll want to paint. I had a big bottle of red paint and wanted to explore flower shapes. I should reference these sketches to paint flower patterns. What another wonderful idea! See how one abstract flower idea leads to the next.

Paint paper roll flowers

Oh my goodness, I haven’t used a paper roll to paint flowers in a while. Paper roll flowers are fun because you really have to surrender to the process. My flowers come out different every time. Trust in your creative space is important. Here is a video tutorial if you are interested. Here’s another paper roll flower idea.

I hope that you enjoyed these ideas. I hope that you are inspired to paint your abstract flowers. I wanted to take a moment and appreciate my skills and my flowers. I am working on a 30-day painting challenge. I should probably paint during lunch. My goal is to balance a beautiful color palette and unify my portfolio. More on all of this in an upcoming post.

Thank you for reading! Share your favorite idea. Perhaps you have an idea you’d like to share.

By the way, I hit the publish button too soon. I wasn’t supposed to publish this post until a few more days. Here I am!

With Love, Mireya
