It has been nearly a month since I picked up a paintbrush. Today I will paint. Before I paint, I want to think about the art students who inspire me. The projects we painted were amazing and the lessons I’ve learned are rules I want to always paint with.

Let’s look at some art and be inspired.

Freedom of Expression

In art nothing else matters but the thrill of painting. We used various papers to paint and made our creations work. Friendships were mended. Everyone felt a sense of pride. There was no but I can’t do that. We simply painted. If a student wanted black leaves, I wondered how that would be. Yes as you can see in the above photo, our tree came out beautiful. Our tree came out beautiful because the children expressed their ideas with various colors and textures. A good point of art is to express yourself and trust your process.

Trust the Process

I ask students on occasion, how did you come up with that idea. They always say I don’t know. I just paint. That is where the magic is. We adults complicate everything by thinking too much. You give children the tools and they will paint. Secretly I will have doubts, but then I see students painting. In the end, I am always amazed. I have a collection of drawings that students give me. I should do a video on that? For now, I will share this Earth’s Layers we worked on.

Tools Don’t Matter

My students have painted with Q-tips because we had no brushes. We made awful paper work. We had a limited color palette and turned those colors into beautiful tones. I was learning color tips from them! These Crayola paint bottles brought my class and me so much joy this summer. My students didn’t care what brand I had. One student just wanted to hold the bottle and pour the paint on his paper. He wanted to paint and he did! Crayola has been so good for me. I always like to paint with it, to go back to those days.

Here are a few Pinterest VIdeos on more projects. This video is really why I paint.

I hope that you were inspired. I am. What was your favorite project? I look forward to all of the new projects to come. To the new subscribers. Thank You! If you haven’t subscribed and you like my content please subscribe here at the bottom of my homepage.
