Today I want to write about a Corita Kent quote and share the process for my peach abstract flowers. Ok maybe there are two Corita Kent quotes I want to share.
Nothing is a mistake. There is no win and no fail, there is only make.
Don’t try to create and analyze at the same time. They’re different processes.
What do these quotes have to do with my week? I have been creating posts and painting. These past painting sessions have been full of light. There is an initial idea of what I want to do. The ideas keep coming.
For example, I mixed up peach and orange. I painted the flowers with my fingers. If the paint was too thick I dipped my finger in the water cup, then back into the paint, and painted smoother strokes. Then I used a gold marker to outline the leaves because gold is magical. I splattered paint on the background by accident. The yellow seemed like the right color for the background.
Lately, when I am done with a painting I’ll hold it up and wonder how it will look on the wall or in a vintage gold frame. Yes, I do that and on my own before reading that tip on another post.
My point is to do you. Listen to your heart, your spirit. In this beautiful space, there is only making and creating. That is where the best work is. That is where your inner strength is too.
With Love,
Mireya
