Flower paintings with Crayola tempera paint

I have been using tempera paint for teaching art this summer. Oh boy has it been fun! If you are looking to explore new ideas or go back to color-mixing basics, Crayola Tempera Paint might be good for you. In this post, I’ll be sharing three reasons why you should add tempera paint to your toolbox.

Crayola makes a variety of paint at inexpensive prices. Crayola Tempera Paint is one of them. These bottles are big, will last you a long time, and are under $8 a bottle or cheaper. You can stock up on the three primaries, grab a journal, and paint all of your ideas. By the way, Crayola does have Turquoise and Magenta. Yes, I won a contest a while ago and was able to get all three paints for free.

I usually paint with acrylic paint, but it was so nice to paint for an hour or two and the paint was still workable. I painted three paintings, and the paint was still going strong. If you are new to acrylic painting, I would recommend beginning with tempera paint just to build momentum and see what you can come up with.

Use red tempera paint to sketch flowers.

I admit that sometimes it is hard to doodle with my Liquitex Heavy Body paint. It’s a small tube and on sale, my favorite color will still cost me $12. With a big inexpensive bottle, you have plenty of room to play, make mistakes, and maybe even discover your next genius idea!

There you have it; Crayola Tempera paint is a good addition to your toolbox. I had fun and was able to mix beautiful colors and doodle finger-painted flowers. I forgot how carefree it was to brainstorm flower painting ideas. Oh Target has a 6 color set of tempera paint bottles for $5 as part of their back-to-school deals. I should create a post on cheap art supplies that you can pick up at your local Target. I shall!

If you are a teacher, I would recommend this set for your classroom. It’s also great to have for kids to paint and even set up an art table at a party. As always, I would love to see your work. For more pictures of my art please visit my Instagram @apaintedgarden

Yes, I agree. I can practice painting on the days I can’t seem to paint right. That was what happened to me a few days ago, It cleans up easy as well.
