Have you finished painting and then notice how beautiful the color is in your water cup is? I have been doing that lately.

I’ve also been painting with yellow and pink. These colors feel like summer days! The title of this painting is Lemons Summer Days and Daisies.

What a title! I started this pattern of color phases. I’ll paint orange flowers for a while. Then move on to another color. Right now, I am obsessed with yellow and pink. I started these paintings days ago. In this painting session, I sat down and painted all the details until I was done. Did I expect this abstract painting to look the way it does? No. My painting is not at all like my sketch.

I wanted white daisies, but the yellow background wasn’t dark enough. My white daises were looking washed out. Then pink popped in my head. I used turquoise to paint the vase. I had all this beautiful blue. I wanted orange. Through all of this painting I began thinking about my summer. I didn’t expect to be teaching art to preschoolers. I hoped and asked for high school. It turns out that because I am getting creative in preparing for the art projects, I am able to come home and paint with that same magic.
I am learning. My heart is in the right place. Oh my, this morning I listed to Curly Niki’s, “You Don’t Have to Make Things Happen” podcast episode. She was all, “Go with the flow. Let your life unfold naturally. You don’t need to make it work. Let it work.”
That state of state mind, state of spirit is lemons, summer days and daises! I have been finger painting leaves, and I’ll be working on painting brighter pinks. I’ll keep on doing my thing because everything is lemons, summer days, and daisies. I should turn those words into a quote poster. I shall!
With Love,
Mireya
