Art can always guide us and teach us how to live deeper lives. I’ll be sharing a poem on all of the lessons I have been learning and end with the story behind my painting.
Trying to be the best
Thinking you have to know it all-impress
Sitting with doubt and the fear
Silence and awkwardness I hear
Suddenly her words
That’s right, I’ve flown with the butterflies and the birds!
Gather my thoughts
Live the love I’ve taught.
Sometimes I’ll run yelling, “The sky is falling!
That’s when I take a big breath because when I’m doing my thing, I’m ballin’
Get out the pink, purple texture
YOU, Painting and Peace-always a wonderful mixture!
Literally, this poem is my story. What a roller coaster ride. I would like to thank James Victore and Morgan Harper Nichols for their wise words. Isn’t it wonderful when there you are on Instagram, and a James Victore post finds you.
The story behind my painting is, I had a lovely texture. I held onto the texture for weeks because I wanted to scan it before I painted over it. It was pretty, I didn’t want to mess it up. Suddenly I didn’t care. All I wanted to do was paint. Paint I did. and I had thoughts of blue and purple. The colors and the sporadic brush strokes seem to say here I am in that–be brave–be bold–be you, kind of way. If you have a lesson that art has taught you, I’d love to hear about it!
With Love,
Mireya
