I did not know what I was doing as I painted these flowers. I know what happens when I move the brush a certain way. If I don’t like the petals I’ve painted, I can flatten the colors with my brush and give a second layer another try. Adding little details with a Neocolor is always a surprise.
The soft blue background, blue roses, gold details in the leaves, and the diagonal arrangement are doodling fun. Originally I didn’t have a background. The blue roses were bright and I wanted something to soften them up. A teal-colored wash was just the thing!
Let this post be a reminder that I always have ideas. We always have ideas. The problem arises in not having the confidence to freely paint our ideas. The following quote speaks such truth.
You can’t sit around and wait for somebody to say who you are. You need to write it and paint it and do it.

For this project, I used the following:
- Golden Fluid Teal Acrylic Paint
- Liquitex Heavy Body Phthalocyanine Blue
