Flower petals made with various colors of pink.

You simply take any shade of red and mix it with Titanium White. Add a dot of yellow or complimentary color and now you’re talking! In this post, I’ll share how I mixed pink with acrylic paint. Then I’ll share my process for finger painting flowers.

Supplies

You will need paint, a brush for mixing and paper.

Here are the red colors I used to mix pinks.

  • Medium Magenta
  • Naphthol Red
  • Titanium White

My stable for mixing pink is Quinacridone Magenta. For this pink exploration, I wanted to test out a few of my other reds.

How to Mix Your Colors

It is easier to begin with Titanium White and gradually add the Magenta or Red tone. Once you have mixed two or three variations of pink it is time to paink. I like to pick up one pink and then swirl that pink in another pink or more white to get even more variations. If I have a darker pink, I’ll layer over it with a pastel pink. I like to test out different fingers and go from top to bottom creating flower shapes.

I painted as if they were drops of love like encouragement or a breath of fresh air floating in the air. Now all I need is a sage green textured background, and teal stems and leaves? Maybe gold-green?

Have any tips for mixing pink?

Together we are blooming in abundance.
