I usually paint with acrylic paint. This week I painted with watercolor. With each stroke of color, a voice seemed to say, “Now these are your colors. This is your palette and what a story it tells. Go on paint your flowers. Be your weird self. And I was like yes, I can paint my own flowers.

  • Flow with water. Add water and let the watercolor work its magic. You watch how it behaves, and modify your ideas, it’s beautiful!
  • I love acrylic paint, my new love is gouache but watercolor is easy to clean up.
  • Take your time. The paint won’t dry up, it’s therapy.
  • You can use a paper towel to lift up mistakes.
  • You can mix colors on the page. I like mixing blues, greens, pinks, and purples for dreamy leaves. Oh right, I learned this fabulous tip from Kristy.
  • You can mix color on the palette, let it dry, and remix your tones.
  • Watercolor is an inexpensive medium for painting adventures! I painted these with a set from the dollar tree. 

Did it dry like chalk? Yes, but I painted pretty flowers! The Crayola educational set is my favorite.

I am finishing up a few details for this painting.
