I blogged about this here and here. Here are the swatches and the notes for making apricot crush. In this post, I’ll go over how to mix apricot crush.

The top two rows are variations of red using the same yellow. The two reds I paired with the yellow medium are quinacridone crimson and naphthol red.
Quinacridone Crimson is a warm red. Does it seem like a warmer red than Napthal Red? A warmer red gives us a warm peach tone-apricot crush.
The last two rows are variations of yellow. I used Cadmium yellow to mix with two different red tones. Yellow Cadmium Medium is a warmer yellow and yellow medium is a cooler yellow.
The key to mixing apricot crush is using warm colors
I just realized that mixing a warm red-orange with a warm yellow creates a lovely shade of peach.
- Quinacridone Crimson +Yellow Cadmium Medium= a warm beautiful orange
Then you add small amounts of titanium white and a sprint of light portrait pink and you have apricot crush!
All of the peach tones I made but the last two rows are apricot crush tones. There are many variations. I have two rose designs that I’m working on.
All of the paint I used was Liquitex Hard Body except for the Yellow Cadmium Medium which is Winsor Professional acrylic. Warm yellows remind me of the sun. The sun is a great way to express how nature makes me feel.

Mireya
