I have worked on a variety of projects and painted numerous flowers. Each one is a lesson and part of the process.

Flowers for the spirit

My summer painting has led me to these powerful words.

To get to the beautiful work, an artist must get past the awkward and embrace the weird.

Some artists call it awkward or weird but it’s that phase we all know well. The moment where we say,” What did I do? This is a mess.” We want to give up. We do. Those are the moments when we need to get out of our own way and keep making art.

Road Trip

Have you read this book? This project began with me painting illustrations in watercolor. I painted cute luggage and car but it went in the trash. This is a diary of my road trip. It was my bad attitude. Doodling with one black pen made sense. I started drawing the moon, stars, hotel, trees, mountains of Colorado, and the White Castle burgers…all with one black Sharpie pen. The pen made more sense and I made the choice to listen to that idea. We all have brilliant ideas. The problem is we don’t listen. Listening is important. Road Trip is a great book about love and LIFE.

Filming especially when I’m not ready

I recently purchased a beautiful scanner and tripod. I made these purchases because I want to invest in what I believe in. This is something I previously had a hard time with. Not anymore. I started filming short videos. I don’t know what I’m doing but I like sharing my work. Sharing my work helps me get over the doubt. In fact, the kid takes over.

More hearts

I’ve been adding work to my shop. I’m taking my time, and exploring like never before. Anthropologie has been an inspiration too. The work I’ve been working on has given me the most hearts I’ve ever had.

There you have it, a few lessons that remind me to keep working. I got this! Be sure and check out the links in this post. What do you learn from creating your art? Comment below. If you know someone who will enjoy this post, share it with them.

Siempre,
