Three dark orange flowers in a blue vase. Doesn’t that just sound interesting? I like the flowers and I love the blue vase. One of my signature habits is adding blue to the painting. It may be on the leaves or in the center of the flower but I like it. Mixing blue with magenta deepens the color too. The textured background is my favorite part of this project.
You can use an old credit card, a bottle cap, a cake tool, a sponge, and anything you can think of to spread the paint on the page. I used a cake scraper tool. Then I used a dry brush to blot in more color. I unified the background but added titanium white to the entire background. Textured backgrounds are interesting. I feel like it gives me an old wall new life vibe. I do like that!
This weekend I’ll get down to painting and begin scanning my blooming conversations.
