For this arrangement, I simply wanted to get something on the page. Pink is my color these days. I know I reviewed and love the Liquitex Heavy Body Paint set but I’m enjoying these Basics paints. Here’s my process:
- sketch with neocolors
- sketch with fluorescent pink
- layer over the paint with pink
- add a few details with neocolors
- Use teal to go over the leaves
That’s it! I just focused on the shapes and layered on the color. I like adding dots, specifically blue ones, to the center of my flowers. I counted them and I have six pages left in my journal. We’ll see what happens. I’m eager to observe my progression from beginning to end.
Here’s a rundown of the pros and cons of Basics paints
Pros
- color variety is amazing
- budget pricing $5-$6 for a big 4 oz tube
- student grade and you can paint beautifully with this set
- I can sketch with the paint.
- This paint allows me to be free because of the cheap price
Cons
- transparency (Heavy body is great for layering as it’s opaque. These paints, it’s more work to paint with them) I found that mixing with a premium white helps!)
Thanks for reading! See you tomorrow!
