I found a beautiful Dahlia on a blog post. I had to paint one! The color palette from the photo became my color scheme.

three roses and two dahlias in a blue vase

My vase is weirdly shaped. It’s an organic handmade ceramic aesthetic. Yes! I keep reminding myself that my work is handmade. Besides, I’m exploring and enjoying the process. Alright here’s my process:

  • sketch with a neocolour
  • paint a first layer of light pink or orange to set the shapes of the flowers and vase
  • made pink my hero (mix pink with all the colors)
  • work on the centers of the flowers
  • paint 2nd and 3rd layers
  • paint the leaves

I want more details but this is a good place to stop for today. Tomorrow I’ll begin the Liquitex exploration. Then this weekend I can come back to my pink flowers in a blue vase and keep working until it feels finished. I’ll probably post the finished peace on instagram and the process video on pinterest.

Thank you for reading. Enjoy your week!

Siempre,

Mireya
